Recap - September until Now

The new IAAN Board has been working tirelessly since its conception in September to bring to you:

  • Three monthly MeetUps featuring edited papers from the Journal of Applied Neuroscience from Jean Annun; Robert Haywood, and Joseph Riordan. Lively discussions took place at each meeting, and on two occasions, the authors (Jean and Joseph) joined the group to contribute.

  • A November webinar featuring Mark Brayne from the UK speaking on Neuroscience and EMDR. If you registered to attend but didn't make it, you can view the recording online.

  • 2026 Conference preparations, securing three fabulous keynote speakers plus Dr Fritz from Austria speaking at our Sparkling Gala Dinner. Yes, that's right, a Gala dinner is planned for Friday, 11 September 2026 - a little bit of glitz!

  • Revamp of IAAN Memberships, making it easy to read and understand on our website.

  • Training programmes by Dr John Arden to enhance your learning, earn PD points and move up the ladder on the membership scale if you want to. For release early 2026.

  • A featured member each month in our newsletter. Last month, we had the delightful Bernii Godwin, and we are looking forward to when it might be YOU. Send us an email if you'd like to be featured to [email protected]

Expanding our Membership

Please help us meet our objective of significantly increasing IAAN membership. We aim to double current numbers by September 2026. At present, we have 250 members, and we invite your support for the IAAN's initiative.

If you know individuals interested in applied neuroscience—be they educators, HR professionals, psychologists, lawyers, doctors, dentists, therapists, or from other disciplines—we encourage you to refer them. The influence of neuroscience extends across all areas of life, making it likely that people from your networks would benefit from being involved.

Membership and event participation offer not only professional development points but also educational benefits and meaningful opportunities to connect with peers. The following is a summary of the membership levels available.

Memberships are offered at competitive rates:

Student memberships at $70 per annum. The purpose is to enhance and/or complement their current studies. Proof of student status is required.

Diary Dates for 2026

MEETUPS - held monthly, online Zoom events, commencing February and being the first Saturday of each month.

These events are FREE to attend and open to all interested in the subject being discussed. We often select published papers from our Journal of Applied Neuroscience, and our February event is from the JAN.

7 February from 10 am - 12 noon AEST - discussion paper is from Daren Wilson on a case study: A cure for PTSD? An outcome achieved through Structured Image Framework Theory, exposure therapy and ketamine

WEBINARS - these are online Zoom events, held every three months with a total of four Webinars a year. We carefully select a speaker who works in or has completed neuroscience research, and our February speaker certainly reflects our requirements. These events are recorded, so if you register and can't attend, the link will be sent for you to view at a later date.

21 February from 10 am - 12 noon AEST - Professor Charlie Teo, world-renowned, and highly respected Australian neurosurgeon, speaking on 'Connectomics: A paradigm shift in the diagnosis and management of all brain disorders.'  An event not to be missed.

16 May from 10 am - 12 noon AEST - Joseph Riordan, clinical psychologist, Australian-based and speaking on a study he did with twins. More information to come.

As you drive into 2026 .... be safe,
